A question I had about these chapters after reading is, why does Aunt Sally now want to civilize Huck? Is it because she doesn't want him to go out and adventure anymore? I feel that she is going to try and civilize him so he isn't out adventuring around and getting into trouble. I think if she tries this it will just make Huck want to leave and go out and do what he loves. She will have her hands full if she wants to fully civilize him and not let him do much of anything. My parents were the same way when I got my license. If I wanted to go somewhere and the told me no, I would constantly ask them until they would finally start saying yes on some things.
A major take away I had over these chapters is that when you do something great for someone a true person will do something in return. Tom did a lot for Jim, like going trough all of the work to get Jim free again. Tom did just that. But an event happened that was very shocking to me as a reader and the people in the book. When Tom got shot in the leg and the doctor needed help, Jim was right there in a snap of a finger to help the doctor and do anything he asked. Tom was very thankful that he got a great return from Jim to help the doctor get all healed up and back to home. It is great to see when someone does something for another person and they are right there when the person that gave to them needs help and they give back to them. Jim didn't even think about if he should help him or not, he just went on and did it.
One thing I really like about this chapter is how the family thought positive at the end. Everyone around them was saying to kill Jim and this and that. I was very glad when the doctor told all of them what Jim did to help him with Tom. It made me very happy that after the doctor said that, the family really thought different about Jim and thought of him as a savior and a normal human being. It was not like people to think about slave like this during the time period. They thought slaves were always bad people no matter what. I am just happy that they changed their mind about Jim and treated him a lot different.
